What people say about Gently be Time Outs
I arrived at the day stressed and apprehensive. However the day went really well. Initial introductions were easy and our first relaxation session got me into the zone. Then we did an exercise I have never done before - which always takes me out of my comfort area and to begin with I thought "I can't do this and I don't much want to do this." Once I got the hang of it though I loved that activity and think I might continue with it. The snacks and lunch were great. Ali and Jackie made a great team - welcoming, kind, generous and encouraging. Mary, Therapist.
"Time spent with Gently be has strengthened my ambition to practice better self-care... I felt enthused and also that I was more ‘normal’ than I perhaps thought! i.e. that we are all trying to find ways to make life happier, calmer and more enjoyable. It was a very reassuring and comforting feeling actually." Sarah, Solicitor.

Where do Time Outs take place?
We can source a venue at a budget agreeable to you, or come to you at your workplace if you have suitable space.
How many people can take part in a Workplace Time Out?
We like to get to know people and make our events personal and memorable, as well as a bonding opportunity for colleagues and staff teams. We therefore prefer to work with groups of between 6 and 20 people. Events for larger groups can be arranged however, where we would arrange for a larger number of trainers in order to maintain the personal focus.
Additional support in the workplace
One to one support for staff experiencing stress.
Gently be offers clinical psychotherapy/hypnotherapy to support staff with work-related stress issues. These solution focused practices, which are based on the latest knowledge about how the brain works, can accelerate recovery from stress, overwhelm or other specific issues and help staff return to work confident and fit to enjoy the workplace again. Gently be’s Jackie Bland spent 30 years in the workplace as a Director and CEO, managing staff from diverse backgrounds and professions before developing Gently be’s support services.
"Jackie has been a great help to my life in just a few short weeks - she's a highly intuitive therapist, getting to the bottom of any issues, to help heal and mend them, in a relaxing environment. She has a wonderful calming influence when you feel like your world is erratic and out of control, and she really understands the brain, how it functions and the mind, body relationship. Would highly recommend her. calming hypnotherapy services." Lynn, Peterborough
Management/leadership support and mentoring
If you’re coping with the endless round of management/leadership challenges a few mentoring sessions with someone who has already been there can really help. Help with finding a new perspective, new solutions, greater understanding of what’s really going on...floating new ideas in a safe place...all with an experienced management mentor and CEO – this might just be the nudge you need.
“Having worked in two organisations which were transformed by Jackie’s leadership, I can warmly recommend her as a source of inspiration and sound advice. Jackie raised my confidence, effectiveness and focus. She makes a wonderful mentor – full of integrity, patience and humour. Sometimes challenging. Always supportive. I can’t find the right words to describe her analytical skills but I think they are outstanding. I recommend Jackie to anyone needing a fresh way of boosting their work, life and leadership skills.” Laura Read, OBE
Laughter Yoga can help combat stress and improve productivity. Clinical research conducted at Bangalore, India and in the United States has proved that laughter lowers the level of stress hormones (epinephrine, cortisol, etc) in the blood. With it’s combination of gentle movement, stretching, deep breathing and relaxation, Laughter Yoga reduces physical, mental and emotional stress simultaneously, bringing balance back to your workforce. As a group exercise it is also a natural team builder. BBC and Google offices use it, Oprah Winfrey has tried and liked it, and John Cleese was so overwhelmed by the good humour he felt for his fellow man after a session at the Founder’s club in Bombay, he called it a “force for democracy”.
If you would like to introduce mindfulness into your workplace then we can develop a course to meet your needs, delivered by a qualified meditation/mindfulness teacher.
“Jackie is a wise and knowledgeable teacher who skilfully guides you through what you need to know.” Robert, Management Consultant
Jackie Bland was a Director and CEO of national voluntary organisations for 30 years before choosing to embark on a new career as a clinical psychotherapist/hypnotherapist and setting up Gently be in 2013. She has wide experience of organisational culture and staff development and management, combined now with an in-depth knowledge of how people can achieve true health and well being, both at work and in their personal lives. She is also a qualified teacher of mindfulness/meditation.
Ali Coutts has experience in a variety of sectors, the bulk of her career life having been lived in London, working in the media and not for profit, among others.
